Modified Oligonucleotides for Colorimetric Detection & Affinity Capture

Bio-Synthesis offers modified oligos or oligonucleotides useful for colorimetric detection and affinity capturing application. Oligonucleotides can be modified using molecular tags such as biotin, dyes or streptavidin. Furthermore, other molecular labels or tags such as digoxigenin, alkaline phosphatase, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), or gold nanoparticles amoung others can be conjugated to oligonucleotides as well.

Biotin is a functional affinity tag often attached to biomolecules such as carbohydrates, peptide, proteins, and oligonucleotides. Since biotin binds specifically to streptavidin and avidin with a very high affinity it is often used in mobility shift assays, or for affinity purification together with streptavidin or avidin beads for column or spin-down chromatography.

Oligonucleotides are stable in solution at 4 ^oC for up to 2 weeks. Properly reconstituted material stored at -20 ^oC should be stable for at least 6 months. Dried DNA (when kept at -20 ^oC) in a nuclease-free environment should be stable for years.
