Description:
This peptide is a Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1 (HIV-1) transacting regulatory protein (Tat) amino acids 44 to 56, with an additional Cys residue at the N-terminal. Tat is secreted by HIV-1 to change the function of bystander cells. Subtype B Tat can act as a chemoattractant on cell membranes, thus stimulating the production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2) from human monocytes.
