Description:
This is amino acids 11 to 42 fragment of beta-amyloid peptide labeled with 5-FAM (Abs/Em=492/518 nm). Post-mortem Alzheimer’s diseased (AD ) brain specimens reveal significant levels of this b-amyloid peptide within insoluble amyloid pools. Beta-secretase enzyme or beta-amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme (BACE) generates the N terminus of b-amyloid, ultimately leading to the production of full-length beta-amyloid (1-40/42) or truncated beta-amyloid (11-40/42). The abundance of b-amyloid (11-40/42) produced by BACE suggests that their roles in AD pathogenesis may be important.
