This is amino acids 20 to 29 fragment of the hamster islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) or amylin 20 to 29. Human and cat IPP 20 to 29 has an ability to form amyloid fibrils in vivo, whereas corresponding hamster peptide does not. IAPP 20 to 29 amino acids sequence has been increasingly studied as a simple model for factors governing amyloid fibril formation.
