Bio-Synthesis, with over 30 years of experience in the life science communities, continues to provide you with high quality peptide products to advance your research in Alzheimer disease.
Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP) is a transmembrane protein that is predominantly expressed in the brain. Mutations and subsequent cleavages of APP by β-secretase, ϒ-secretase and caspases generated amyloid beta peptides, which have been implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease.1-2
Proteolytic action of β-secretase and ϒ-secretase generates amyloid β peptides of 40 or 42 residues.3-4 These peptides are susceptible to aggregate and lead to formation of amyloid plaques that characterizes Alzheimer disease.3

Consequently, β-amyloid peptides (1-40), (1-42) and (1-28) have extensively been studied in relation to alzheimer disease.
